Daniel is an Award-winning Playwright & Actor who has appeared in many plays in and around NYC. As an Actor, he has played a wide variety of lead and lead character roles, and has worked with a range of distinguished theatre companies, including Blue Heron Theatre Company, Mind The Gap Theatre Company, The New Group, Pearl Theatre Company, Immigrants Theatre Project, Gallery Players Theatre, Manhattan Repertory Theatre, 13th Street Repertory, Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre, NY Solo Play Lab & Columbia Stages, among others, and has received acclaim in Time Out New York, NYtheatre.com, CurtainUp.com, Backstage, Off-off Broadway Review, among other publications.
As a Playwright, he has had plays produced throughout the U.S and Australia, and has thus far garnered the Christopher Brian Wolk Award (presented by the Abingdon Theatre Company in NYC) an OOBR Critics Choice Award for Excellence, Grand Prize from the Attic Theatre Ensemble in Los Angeles and, most recently, the 2009 Silver Stage Award from the Old Opera House Theatre Company in West Virginia. He has also been a 2-time Finalist for the Playwrights First Award, sponsored by the National Arts Club, and has been a Finalist or Semi-finalist for the Y.E.S. Festival of New Plays Award, Writers Digest Award, New Century Writers Award, among others.
Most recently, his Silver Stage Award winning The Enlightenment of Mrs. Cartwell received its acclaimed NYC premier in Sept/Oct in the 2009 Estrogenius Festival where it was the Producers Encore Selection, and will be subsequently published in their anthology in 2010. In November, Daniel went on to appear in Mind the Gap Theatre Company’s Brit Bits 6 at Manhattan Theatre Source, and followed that with directing a revival of his one-act STAY in the Where Eagles Dare Short Play Lab later that same month.
Upcoming will be the World Premier of his full-length The Narrow World by the Fresh Baked Theatre Company in Los Angeles from January 22nd through Feb. 7th.
